Parker is 11 Months Old

Parker will be one year old in 30 days. This time last year, I was huge and swollen, counting the hours until Spring Break so I could wear flip flops for the rest of my pregnancy. Today, I took Parker out in the jogging stroller and I ran 45 minutes straight, the weather was beautiful, and I had my sweet Pumpkin along to keep me company while he ate his goldfish and cheerios...

If you look closely at the picture, you'll notice goldfish lost under his chin and one of Jack's old collars tied to the side of the stroller. He loves all things Jack right now and has a melt down if you take Jack's leash away from him (he crawls around with it all day long and would take it in the bathtub and car if we let him).

He is getting more brave about taking steps by himself and standing up without support. Mr. Independent wants to stand on his head with straight legs - it looks like part downward dog and part somersault start. He also wants to crawl head-first into things like laundry baskets, bathtubs, toy bins, and flower pots...

Or ride a broom across the floor...

He loves the outdoors and the big wooden playground in town (think Project Playground in Wichita Falls times five in size). We tried the swings for the first time last Friday and he was unimpressed. He would rather crawl through the tunnels, fly down the slide, or more importantly, eat leaves and mulch.

I think quitting bottles over the next few weeks will be a breeze since he doesn't want his morning or afternoon bottles anyway. Who can blame him? Why have a bottle of powdered milk when you can eat 4 full meals per day and get snacks in the car and in the stroller? He will eat blueberries until he turns blue, loves turkey and chicken lunchmeat, cheese slices, any kind of carb - biscuit, pancake, hamburger bun, tortilla, cereal, crackers, nutra grain bars, etc... When he's hungry, he's pretty much a disposal and will drop whatever he doesn't want for Jack. This means Jack has finally discovered the utility of having a little pestering human brother around.

Parker still loves bath time and likes to blow bubbles in the water, stand up and dance in the tub, read his water book, and suck on soapy washcloths.

He sleeps from 7:30pm - 7:30am and only wakes up once every couple weeks in the middle of the night. Putting him to bed is one of the best parts of my day, and I so my best to treasure each evening because I know I will miss them when he's older...
